An Orange Teatime

An Orange Teatime

This morning we chose to celebrate the color orange. The girls made a centerpiece with orange paper flowers and a paper chain. We pulled out our orange demitasse cups with saucers and used our rainbow-colored, Santa Fe tea pot.

Louisiana Orange Marmalade paired perfectly with our muffins and we just absolutely had to have oranges.

Poetry was shared.

It was a great way to start our week.

Poems to Enjoy

The Orange

by Wendy Cope

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—
They got quarters and I got a half.

And that orange, it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It's new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I'm glad I exist.

Color

by Christina Rossetti

What is pink? a rose is pink
By a fountain's brink.
What is red? a poppy's red
In its barley bed.
What is blue? the sky is blue
Where the clouds float thro'.
What is white? a swan is white
Sailing in the light.
What is yellow? pears are yellow,
Rich and ripe and mellow.
What is green? the grass is green,
With small flowers between.
What is violet? clouds are violet
In the summer twilight.
What is orange? Why, an orange,
Just an orange!
